Reflect before you interpret
Start by showing what you heard. Mention a detail or feeling from the post: ‘The change from the crowded room to the quiet garden stood out to me.’ This keeps your response connected to the dreamer’s actual story.
Read the question they asked. Someone recording a peaceful dream may want companionship rather than an explanation. Someone requesting a faith-based reading has offered a particular frame for the discussion.
Offer possibilities and questions
Use language that leaves room: ‘I wonder whether…’, ‘One association I have is…’, or ‘Does this remind you of anything?’ Your experience can be useful when you identify it as your own, rather than presenting it as a rule that applies to everyone.
Ask one or two focused questions. An invitation to describe how a place felt is often more useful than a long list of symbol meanings. Give the dreamer space to decide whether your idea fits.
Respect the person behind the post
Avoid diagnoses, claims about a real person’s motives, and confident predictions. Do not pressure someone to make a relationship, financial, medical, or spiritual decision based on your reading. Keep private messages and identifying information out of public replies.
It is fine for interpretations to differ. Explain your perspective kindly and let others do the same. If a conversation breaks the community guidelines, use Report so the owner can review it rather than escalating the argument.
A few questions to sit with
- Have I responded to the question they actually asked?
- Have I made clear that this is a possibility?
- What question would help them find their own association?
